About Us

“Life is very short and what we have to do must be done in the now.” – Audre Lorde

OUR STORY

Black Women United Inc., started as a Facebook group (Black Women United for Kamala Harris) just days after then Senator Kamala Harris was nominated as Vice President of the United States on the Democratic ticket by then Former Vice President Joseph Biden. Founder, Sylvia Browder felt an urgent need to reach out to other black women to unite in support of Senator Harris and as a support group for each other. Little did she know that this group would morph into a movement. As the group grew, she put together  moderators to help her manage the growth. The moderators became her founding Board of Advisors. These are the ladies who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the success of our community!
